Face your excuses head-on, BE FIERCE!!! You can overcome your excuses and choose to live a healthier lifestyle.

Don’t think you have time!?! 

The truth is that if you make your workout a priority, you’ll have the time for it. Look at your to do list. I know you can find something less important that you are doing for 22 minutes every day that can be replaced with exercise. After all, exercise is one of the most important things you can do for your health!

Can’t Afford a gym membership!!! 

You don’t have to spend a second in a gym to get fit. Just walking, hiking, or riding your bike outside is super fun to do. I’m really into home fitness and it’s really affordable and convenient. It’s really cheap to buy some great home equipment that will really challenge your body. A resistance band, an exercise ball, a jumprope, or a set of dumbbells is a great way to get started. You work every muscle group and even get your cardio.

Don’t know what to do???

There are literally dozens of ways to learn what exercises will help you. Hire a personal trainer or an online personal trainer. They can guide you every step of the way so that you don’t waste your time. Also, there are books, online websites, television shows, and videos that offer loads of advice and tips. My favorites exercise programs are offered by Beachbody. They have DVD’s, streaming, support, nutritional guidance and so much more. Best of all their workout programs are complete, balanced, and you really get results.

Failed in the past?!!

It’s especially difficult to try and try again when you’ve failed before. Know that your health is definitely worth the try. Really take a look at your past experiences with exercise. Investigate and evaluate what happened. What exactly went wrong? Then depending on what you find, figure out a solution to counter your issues. For example, if you scheduled your exercise after work when your beat from the day, try switching it to a morning or even a lunchtime workout.

Suffering from the TOO’s??!

Do you feel like you’re too old, too fat, too out of shape, too pretty, too whatever to workout? Unless your physician has forbidden you, which is unlikely, they seem to be prescribing exercise for everything these days, you need to drop this excuse now. There are more programs then ever designed for seniors. If you’re extremely big or out-of-shape, then you simply need to start slowly. Walking, pool exercises, a resistance routine, and/or the exercise bike are great ways to start. Also there are many beneficial strength training exercises you can do while sitting.

Find yourself caving in to those old excuses, read through some of the tips above. Then remind yourself of all the benefits of working out:

  • lowers body fat
  • decreases risk of disease
  • reduces stress, anxiety, depression
  • improves bone density
  • reduces risk of injuries
  • you’ll look better
  • you’ll have more energy
  • etc. etc. etc.

Then get off your butt and just do it!!!
